Written naming convention

Arm Roll (Direction) (starting position-ending position)

  1. Direction can be omitted. If omitted, the trick is assumed to be a Arm Roll Normal.
  2. Since the trick is self-rotational, the number of rotations is not important and is not stated.
  3. The starting and ending positions can be omitted.
    • When the starting position is omitted for an Arm Roll Normal, it is assumed to start where the previous trick has ended since Arm Roll is rarely he first trick performed in a combo. Otherwise the pen is assumed to start on the back of the hand.
    • When the starting position is omitted for an Arm Roll Reverse, it is assumed to start in the elbow.
    • When the ending position is omitted for an Arm Roll Normal, it is assumed to end in the elbow.
    • When the starting position is omitted for an Arm Roll Reverse, it is assumed to end on the back of the hand.

Guide

Arm Roll Normal

  1. The pen begins on the back of the hand, perpendicular to the fingers.
  2. The arm is tilted so that gravity causes the pen to roll down the arm towards the elbow.
  3. The elbow is bent to pinch the pen in the crook of the elbow.

Arm Roll Reverse

  1. The pen begins in the crook of the elbow with the elbow bent to hold the pen.
  2. The elbow is straightened as the hand is brought down below the level of the elbow. Gravity causes the pen to roll down the arm towards the hand.
  3. The pen is stopped on the back of the hand.
