Twisted Sonic is a well-known hybrid consisting of a Charge and a Pass. This hybrid has a name after long being labeled an individual trick before the addition of hybrids to the pen spinning language.

Directional variations
Normal: the pen rotates in a clockwise motion (right-handed performance) for 1.5 rotations throughout the entire hybrid combo.
Reverse: the pen rotates in a counter-clockwise motion (right-handed performance) for 1.5 rotations throughout the entire hybrid combo.
Written naming convention
(Inverse) Twisted Sonic (Direction) (number of spins) (starting position)-(ending position)
When writing a Twisted Sonic in breakdown form, the above convention will detail what happens throughout the entire hybrid.
- The modifier, Inverse, is written if the pen travels in the same direction but is Passed over the opposite side of the finger.
- The name, Twisted Sonic.
- The direction can be omitted. When direction is omitted, it is assumed to be a Twisted Sonic Normal.
- The number of spins can be omitted. The full Twisted Sonic hybrid only has 1.5 rotations.
- The starting and ending positions can be omitted.
- When both positions are omitted for a Twisted Sonic Normal, it is assumed to be a Twisted Sonic Normal 23-12.
- When the positions are both omitted for a Twisted Sonic Reverse, it is assumed to be a Twisted Sonic Reverse 12-23.
- If only the ending position is omitted for a Twisted Sonic Normal, it is assumed to only move up one finger slot.
- If only the ending position is omitted for a Twisted Sonic Reverse, it is assumed to only move down one finger slot.
Tutorials
Twisted Sonic Normal 23-12
| 1. The pen starts between the middle and ring fingers, the same starting position as Sonic. |
2. Perform a 1/4 Charge 23 motion. As the pen reaches 1/4 rotation, begin a Pass Reverse 23-12 motion. |
| 3. Continue the Pass Reverse 23-12 allowing the pen to continue in with the smooth, circular motion of the Charge 23. |
| 5. Perform another 1/4 Charge motion, this time between the index and middle fingers. Catch the pen between the index and middle fingers or in the writing position. |
